NAIS- LAST DATE OF PREIUM PAYMENT EXTENDED BY CENTRAL GOVT

THE LAST DATE FOR PAYMENT OF PREMIUM BY NON LOANEE FARMERS IS EXTENDED UPTO 14 TH AUGUST AS PER A COMMUNICATION RECEIVED FROM SRI NAGARJUNA D.G.M, AGRICULTURAL INSURANCE COMPANY OF INDIA,.
AIC IS THE IMPLEMENTING AGENCY OF NATIONAL AGRICULTURAL INSURANCE SCHEME IN INDIA.
PADDY CROP IS COVERED TAKING VILLAGE AS INSURANCE UNIT IN VIZIANAGARAM DISTRICT.
IT IS LEARNT BASED ON PROPOSALS BY OUR COMMISSIONER AND DIRECTOR OF AGRICULTURE ,AP, HYDERABAD, GOVT OF INDIA HAS EXTENDED THE DATES FOR LOANEES AND NONLOANEES,LOANEES WILL BE COVERED AUTOMATICALLY BY DEDUCTING  PREMIUM FROM THEIR CROP LOANS WHEN THEY TAKE CROP LOANS FROM BANKS.
NON LOANEE FARMERS CAN PAY PREMIUM VOLUNTARILY THROUGH AGRICULTURAL OFFICERS AND SUBMIT DECLARATIONS AND INSURE THEIR CROP.

THOUGH DENSE CLOUDES ARE PRESENT OVER NORTH COASTAL AP AND VIZIANAGARAM THE RAIN FALL IS STILL DEFICIT IN 10 MANDALS AND SCANTY IN 2 MANDALS. DEFICIT MEANS   - 20 TO - 59 % OVER NORMAL AND SCANTY MEANS   - 60 % TO - 99%.

WHETHER A CONTINGENCY PLAN IS NEEDED ?

Today I have prepared a contingency plan for vizianagaram district.
During past 2 months the rain fall is not sufficient.
11 mandals recorded deficit rain fall. 2 mandals scanty.
on set of South West Monsoon is delayed by more tha 20 days.
Sowings of dry land crops affected.
Cultivation in vizianagaram district depends upon more than 9500 Rain fed tanks which need to be filled atleast thrice during the season to cater the needs of Paddy crop. Paddy is cultivated in more than 1.24 lakh hectares in the district.if tanks are not charged in time, contingency arises and alternates crops have to be sown.
we have to indent and supply sufficient seed of Short duration paddy, Maize, Ragi,Pulses etc.

GOOD NEWS : Recently AP State Govt., launched a new toll free number for farmers. Farmers can call and inform their grievances , compliants or seek any technical suggestions on cultivation of crops.
The voice is recorded in a  system and uploaded to server which will be accessed via internet by the District offices. Daily one  officer in the office of JOINT DIRECTOR OF AGRICULTURE has to answer all calls by hearing the call voice data or by calling again  the farmers .

Their grievances will be processed and solved within a limited period.

Sri K.Madhusudan Rao IAS, COMMISSIONER AND DIRECTOR OF AGRICULTURE AP HYDERABAD RECENTLY VISITED VIZIANAGARAM DISTRICT AND REVIEWED IMPLEMENTATION OF VARIOUS PROGRAMMES ,SEASON AND CONTINGENCY PLAN, FERTILIZER SUPPLY ETC. SRI M. VEERABRAHMIAH IAS, DISTRICT COLLECTOR, VIZIANAGARAM ALSO PRESENT IN THE REVIEW MEETING.

DRY LANDS ARE BEING DIVERTED TO HOUSE SITES AND FROM LESS REMUNERATIVE     MESTA CROP TO MANGO  ORCHARDS WHICH REQUIRE LESS MAINTENANCE.

YERUVAKA POORNIMA CELEBRATED

yeruvaka poornima celebrated at Annam raju peta village of Jami mandal in vizianagaram district.
As per the instructions of the Govt. and commissioner and director of Agriculture,AP the programme was conducted by Dept of Agriculture and all allied depts on Jyesta poornima ie 4th  june 2012.
The programme was inaugurated by Hon'ble MP Smt B.Jhansi lakshmi and Sri B.Appalanarsaiah MLA Gajapathinagaram and Sri veerabrahmiah IAS District Collector Vizianagaram participated in the programme. First Pooja was performed and  ploughs were run in the fields followed by spreading of Navadhanyas in fields. 11 bullock pairs with ploughs and nearly 3500 farmers have participated in the celebrations.Exhibition stalls were erected by various depts, at the venue showing latest developments highlighting schemes and subsidy programmes.

A SRI PLOT IN DROUGHT AFFECTED AREA

WE HAVE RECENTLY VISITED PADDY FIELDS AFFECTED BY DROUGHT DURING KHARIF 2011 IN VIZIANAGARAM DISTRICT. THE FIELDS ARE LOCATED NEAR GURLA VILLAGE ( MANDAL)

SEPARATE SCALE OF FINANCE FOR SRI PADDY IN VIZIANAGARAM DISTRICT

The district level technical committee has finalised the scales of finance for extending crop loans for the year 2012-13 financial year. It is interesting to note that a separate scale was fixed for SRI paddy which is Rs. 2000 more than normal paddy cultivation keeping in view the cost involved on labour for weeding operations with cono weeder.Thanks to OUR DDM NABARD Sri. E. Srinivas and LEAD DISTRICT MANAGAER Sri B.G.K. Acharyulu who proposed this . for other crops the scales increased upto 10-20% over last year.
